This one of a kind single decade Purse Rosary is made in honor of St. Jose Sanchez Del Rio.
The Aves are red jasper beads. Red because St. Jose is a martyr, dying for his faith at the young age of 13. Red is also one of the colors in the Cristero flag that he carried to proclaim his faith to others as part of the Cristero army.
Trinity Spacing is used between each of the Aves to represent The Most Holy Trinity and the importance of keeping Christ in the center of your life. The gold beads represent St. Jose‘s devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Pater is an antique Bali style bead and is accented with gold and green, again to represent the Cristero flag.
A St. Jose medal, crucifix, and Our Lady of Guadalupe medal hang together from the jump ring at the end.
This makes a perfect gift for a young person who has chosen St. Jose as their Confirmation patron saint.
The story of St. Jose is one of true courage and fortitude. He was martyred on February 10, 1928 for not renouncing his faith. The soldiers said to him, “If you shout, ‘Death to Christ the King’, we will spare your life.” Jose responded, “Long live Christ the King! Long live Our Lady of Guadalupe!” He was given multiple opportunities to deny Christ. His constant response was, “Long live Christ the King!”
